      It’s springtime at John Adams Middle School, and twelve-year old Melanie Rose is looking forward to supporting her friends from the cul-de-sac as they try-out for the school baseball team. But when one of her former cheerleading teammates asks why their school doesn’t have a spring cheerleading squad, Melanie and her friends and teammates take the suggestion to heart. After they talk to Vice Principal Cheesewell, she gives them the go-ahead but says it is their responsibility to recruit more kids for the team, find a coach, and do whatever fundraising they need to buy equipment. Starting a new school team from scratch isn’t easy, but with the support of her family and friends, Melanie knows it will all be worth it.
